چکیده

Fever is one of the most common reasons for pediatric visits to healthcare facilities and consistently contributes to parental concern and extensive utilization of health services. The objective of this study was to examine the causes of fever in children, diagnostic approaches, principles of management and treatment, as well as preventive strategies aimed at reducing complications and unnecessary healthcare visits. This study was conducted using a literature-based methodology, drawing upon credible scientific sources, research articles, clinical guidelines, and international health reports. The primary research question addressed the optimal approach to the evaluation and management of fever in children and the circumstances under which pharmacological intervention becomes necessary. Findings indicate that, in the majority of cases, fever in children is caused by self-limiting viral infections and is not inherently dangerous. However, conditions such as high-grade fever, prolonged duration, or the presence of accompanying symptoms including seizures, altered consciousness, and respiratory difficulties necessitate urgent medical evaluation. Weight-based administration of antipyretic medications such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen, ensuring adequate fluid intake, and rest were identified as the core components of fever management. Additionally, the results highlight that parental awareness and understanding of appropriate fever management play a critical role in reducing anxiety and preventing improper practices, particularly the unnecessary use of antibiotics. Overall, fever is better regarded as a clinical sign of an underlying condition rather than an independent disease, and informed management can significantly contribute to improved pediatric health outcomes
