الملخص

The importance of trustworthiness, in the light of the Prophetic traditions, has long been regarded as one of the essential topics in Islamic societies. This article aims to examine the meaning and concept of trust (amanah), discuss its rulings, and explain and clarify the significance of trustworthiness with reference to the sayings of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The objectives of the study are to provide an overview of the narratives related to the importance of trustworthiness, to achieve an accurate understanding of its positive effects on both individuals and society, and to draw the attention of all segments of the community toward embodying this noble moral attribute. The research is conducted using a library-based method through consulting reliable Hadith sources and selecting authentic and sound narrations, and all topics are explained and elaborated upon with documented Hadith evidence. The results indicate that observing trustworthiness reflects the perfection of a person’s faith and represents a distinguished characteristic of a Muslim that establishes credibility among members of society. Adherence to trustworthiness is shown to be necessary and obligatory, as people’s secrets, the spouse, children, and the state are all considered trusts. Furthermore, legal obligations, gifts, wealth, and duties are also trusts, and their neglect is regarded in the Prophetic traditions as one of the signs of the Last Day, while the treacherous person is described as a hypocrite.
