This research aims to investigate the extent and method of using the ChatGPT tool by professors at Balkh University in producing scientific works. The objectives of the study are to examine patterns of use, to assess levels of trust and satisfaction, and to clarify the role of ChatGPT in supporting academic activities. In terms of purpose, the research is applied, and in terms of method, it employs a quantitative survey approach. The statistical population includes 183 professors of Balkh University, from whom data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS software. The theoretical framework of the research is based on the theories of trust and use and satisfaction, which explain the role of trust in the accuracy and validity of the tool and the level of user satisfaction in using it. The findings show that ChatGPT is most commonly used for translating scientific texts, simplifying complex content, speeding up writing processes, and compensating for information gaps. In contrast, its use in developing theoretical foundations, academic writing, and collecting primary sources has been reported less frequently. The results also indicate that professors demonstrate a moderate level of trust in ChatGPT responses, while their satisfaction levels range from medium to high. Overall, the research concludes that ChatGPT currently functions as an auxiliary and supporting tool in the production of scientific works, as it has not yet fully replaced human research skills and experience
