Current research in photovoltaic solar cells (converting solar energy to electrical energy) is aimed at finding suitable alternatives to the very important metals (platinum and indium) in the manufacture of solar cells. Carbon nanostructures are exploring their place in the field of solar cells, which are used to improve light absorption and increase charge carrier mobility in photovoltaics due to their small size, high strength, resistance to degradation and erosion, electrical and thermal conductivity, carbon nanotubes are the strongest and strongest molecules that have been produced so far and have the highest potential for electrical and thermal conductivity. This study is a review of reputable scientific articles and examines the importance of carbon nanostructures in solar cells and the challenges that exist in realizing some of these applications are also discussed from a production and cost perspective
